YIFAN WANG
Hi, I'm Yifan Wang, a filmmaker currently pursuing my MPS in Virtual Production at New York University. With a BA in Film Production, my focus is exploring the sweet spot where cinematic storytelling meets real-time technology.
Recently, I directed Decoding Light—a sci-fi short shot entirely on an LED volume with UE5 real-time rendering, which took 1st Prize at the 2026 Chinese National University Virtual Production Contest. Before that, my project Behind My Soul allowed me to experiment with blending LED walls, green screens, and AI-generated visuals, ultimately winning Best Story at the VIVE MARS Global VP Competition.
Beyond directing, I love getting my hands dirty. I've optimized AI video workflows, assisted high-pressure events at the Cannes Film Festival, and built virtual environments from scratch—often figuring out creative workarounds when the "industry standard" equipment isn't around.
